Job Title: Plant Maintenance Superintendent

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Maintenance Superintendent to join our team at StevenDouglas. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to achieve operational excellence and maintain operational cost controls
  • Work closely with the production team to execute the maintenance plan effectively, supporting them through planning, scheduling, ordering, and preparing materials and tools required for maintenance tasks
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and assets by completing regular training on health and safety standards and environmental guidelines
  • Monitor work performance and address situations that do not conform to standards immediately
  • Oversee the maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained and repaired to minimize downtime
  • Ensure environmental compliance, rehabilitation, and compliance with operational permit obligations
  • Inspect and inventory all company supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Make recommendations for workforce planning, hiring, training, development, work allocation, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, and separations
  • Investigate abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine the cause and make adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed
  • Ensure conformance with policies and procedures, safety regulations, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Act as a go-to resource for troubleshooting plant and mobile malfunctions and other special needs
  • Continuously conduct research on industry best practices and utilize findings to identify more cost-effective and efficient operating procedures
  • May act as a liaison between employees and support functions such as HR, Payroll, and Benefits
  • Supervise and coordinate the plant and mobile maintenance team to maintain productivity levels, efficiency, and safety while managing the assigned area with fiscal integrity
  • Manage the performance of assigned personnel, delegating responsibilities while objectively evaluating performance and holding them accountable in a constructive manner
  • Develop and implement strategies and best practices for achieving continuous improvement, efficiency, and productivity of the main production plant and mobile fleet
  • Review weekly and monthly forecasts with management and commercial teams to address production schedules to meet customer needs
  • Perform statistical analysis for continuous improvement and management, prepare reports, and maintain appropriate department records and files as required
  • Update the daily Communications Board with daily/weekly/monthly safety statistics
  • Provide work direction, training, and support to maintenance workers responsible for inspecting, repairing, moving, and/or installing plant machinery and equipment in accordance with instructions, equipment manuals, etc.
  • Review and generate weekly maintenance plans and backlogs with Operations and obtain agreement on the plan/schedule for the next week
  • Support and assist personnel in achieving timely and efficient production schedules
  • Work with production supervisors to ensure each planned task is ready with materials/tools before assignment
  • Plan major maintenance projects and work with plant management to develop capital investment recommendations to senior management
  • Achieve overall equipment effectiveness at the lowest sustainable cost of maintenance
  • Review Plan Attainment statistics for previous weeks' plans and communicate to the team
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Works closely with the production supervisor and plant manager
  • Interfaces with third-party vendors
  • Provides training and guidance to other employees within the product line
