Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary. As an Education Assistant, you will work closely with students with special needs, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with students with special needs, providing individualized support and guidance
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and hygiene
  • Support students with academic tasks, such as homework and projects
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for a current British Columbia Criminal Record Check
  • Training and experience in special education, preferably working with students with autism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
