Role Overview

The Construction Operative plays a crucial role within a skilled construction team, ensuring the successful execution of projects in alignment with approved designs, specifications, and relevant regulations while upholding exceptional quality standards and a secure work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport and organize construction materials, ensuring efficient movement to designated work areas.
  • Assemble and disassemble concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, barricades, and other necessary structures at construction sites.
  • Collaborate with tradespeople and other construction team members to achieve project goals.
  • Support heavy equipment operators by securing attachments, signaling for guidance, and assisting in various operational tasks.
  • Aid in the alignment of pipes and perform related duties during the installation of underground utilities.
  • Participate in excavation and backfill activities during earthworks projects using tools such as shovels, rakes, and plate tampers.
  • Verify slopes for compliance with project specifications using levels or lasers.
  • Clear rubble and debris to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Operate pneumatic tools such as hammers, vibrators, and tampers as instructed.
  • Manage and maintain construction machinery and equipment, including mixers, compressors, and pumps.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a construction setting or a comparable role.
  • Familiarity with construction terminology and practices.
  • Strong verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Commitment to adhering to company Health, Safety, & Environmental protocols and assessments.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
