About the Role

As a Generalist Programmer at Ubisoft Montreal, you will play a crucial part in creating cutting-edge tools and systems that enable the studio to bring its creative visions to life. You will work in a collaborative environment, utilizing your technical expertise to develop and maintain high-performance systems that support the production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement generic systems that support the functionalities of specialized programming teams, ensuring seamless integration with the game engine, editor, and middleware.
  • Provide technical support to production teams, ensuring the stability and proper functioning of their systems and tools.
  • Develop software in a clear and structured manner, adhering to performance, maintenance, modularity, extensibility, and compatibility requirements.
  • Maintain open communication with production teams and tool users, responding to their requests and needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitor performance and memory budgets, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Debug and optimize existing systems to facilitate the work of other programming teams.
  • Document your work to transfer knowledge and enable production teams to understand system functionalities.
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in programming and related technologies.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software programming, preferably in the video game industry or a related field.
  • Excellent proficiency in various programming languages, particularly C++.
  • A degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or equivalent training).
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Autonomy, curiosity, and resourcefulness, with a willingness to seek out knowledge and expertise.
  • Flexibility in work organization, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
