About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile programmer to join our team at Ubisoft Montreal. As a Generalist Programmer, you will play a crucial role in creating stable, functional, and high-performance tools and systems that will enable our studio to realize its current and future creative visions.

You will work in a collaborative, state-of-the-art environment on various aspects of production, including game engine, editor, middleware, and more. Your technical expertise will be essential in tackling the technical challenges associated with various systems, such as AI, 3D, sound, animation, and others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop generic systems that support the functionalities of specialized programming teams and ensure their integration.
  • Support production teams by ensuring the stability and proper functioning of their systems and tools.
  • Program in a clear and structured manner, respecting performance, maintenance, modularity, extensibility, and compatibility requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with production teams and users to respond to their requests and needs.
  • Monitor performance and memory budgets and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Debug and optimize existing systems to facilitate the work of other programming teams.
  • Document your work to transfer knowledge and enable production teams to understand systems and their functionalities.
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in the field of programming.
Requirements
  • Around 5 years of experience in software programming, preferably in the video game industry or a related field.
  • Excellent proficiency in various programming languages, especially C++.
  • A degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or related training).
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Autonomy, curiosity, and resourcefulness to drive innovation.
  • Flexibility in work organization to adapt to changes.
