Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Women's and Children's Program team at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide patient and family centered care to expectant women, pediatric patients, well newborns, newborns who require special care, and their families in in-patient and out-patient settings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide care to patients and families in accordance with the full scope of practice of a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Work collaboratively with all members of the Women and Children's team to ensure an excellent patient care experience.
- Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Two years recent related experience of maternal/newborn/pediatric nursing within the last three years.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification.
- Able to meet the core competencies to independently provide care for Pediatric, Newborn and Post-Partum patients.
- Thorough understanding and commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care principles and ability to use in practice.
- Current Basic Life Support Certificate.
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills and able to work through conflicts and differences in a respectful manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure an excellent patient care experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety.
- Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development through the completion of recent obstetrical, neonatal, pediatric and/or relevant course work.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Cerner, etc.).
- Demonstrated performance record that reflects STEGH's values.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis in accordance with STEGH's Attendance at Work Program.
