About the Role

The Therapeutic Recreation Manager is a key member of our team, responsible for leading the Recreation Department and ensuring that our residents receive high-quality, engaging, and meaningful programs and services. This role requires a strong understanding of the emotional, cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual needs of our residents, as well as the ability to develop and implement programs that cater to these needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Recreation Department, including staff supervision, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of our residents, including therapeutic recreation programs, social events, and leisure activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of services and programs.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient and effective program delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide mentorship and education to staff on clinical best practices in therapeutic recreation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Graduation from a recognized Therapeutic Recreation Program, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Certification from the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (CTRA) as required.
  • Minimum of two years' management experience in a seniors housing setting preferred.
  • Current Basic CPR/First Aid qualifications.
  • Current class 4 BC Driver's License as required.
  • Current Food Safe Certification required.
  • Current Serving It Right Certification required.
  • Ability to understand the needs of seniors.
  • Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Solid working knowledge of related office equipment and Windows-based software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
