Job Title: Battery Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Battery Maintenance Technician to join our team at G.N. Johnston Equipment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting maintenance checks and repairs for lift trucks and carousels at customer sites, providing consistent service and technical knowledge to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine the overall operational integrity and condition of internal combustion or diesel trucks
  • Diagnose, adjust/repair mechanical, hydraulic or electrical parts, and communicate and execute next steps for repair solutions to the customer
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose and order parts according to technical manuals
  • Document and analyze breakdowns based on standard procedures
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or equivalent related experience
  • Perform duties in inclement weather, with exposure to severe weather conditions
  • Must have a Truck and Coach 310T Certification or Heavy Duty Technician Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine powered material handling equipment
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices, knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
  • Experience with industrial equipment that involves lifting/rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment
  • Experience aligning above equipment, using dial indicators/calipers, micrometers, hoists or jacks is a plus
  • Able to interpret and implement technical procedures
  • Solid knowledge of general Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Possess a valid driver's license
