Your Role

The Senior Strategic Planning Manager is tasked with spearheading the pre-construction initiatives from the initial to the advanced development phases. This role requires close collaboration with the development, engineering, and major contracting teams to ensure project readiness and optimization prior to the commencement of construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction and engineering activities throughout various stages of project development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create construction and operational cost estimates, utilizing inputs from engineering, project managers, and commercial teams.
  • Evaluate class estimates necessary for projects at different development stages and provide strategic guidance to the commercial and contracting teams.
  • Establish and maintain a pre-construction risk registry, applying appropriate contingencies to estimates.
  • Implement project governance mechanisms, including cost control tools, schedules, risk matrices, and project execution plans.
  • Engage in industry networking events to keep the company informed about government programs, incentives, and emerging industry trends.
  • Coordinate handover processes from development to construction and from construction to operational stages.
  • Work closely with the major contracting team to assess and implement project-specific construction strategies.
  • Participate in project portfolio acquisition processes and oversee due diligence efforts related to construction.
  • Ensure effective communication and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team, particularly among development, construction, engineering, and operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven project management expertise;
  • Comprehensive understanding of renewable energy project development;
  • Service-oriented mindset with a commitment to teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities;
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) is essential for collaboration with various stakeholders; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in the development and/or construction of wind and solar projects in North America;
  • Familiarity with contract negotiations is advantageous;
  • Experience in energy storage is a plus;
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration;
  • Specialization in wind and solar energy is preferred;
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite, particularly Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel.
