About the Role

The Senior Manager - Strategic Planning Lead will be responsible for leading the pre-construction effort from early to advanced development stages. This role will work closely with the development, engineering, and major contract teams to ensure project readiness and optimization prior to initiating construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction and engineering activities for projects during various development stages.
  • Develop construction and operations cost estimates in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Assess class estimates required for projects and provide guidance to commercial and major contract teams.
  • Develop and maintain pre-construction risk registries and apply adequate contingencies to estimates.
  • Implement project governance mechanisms, including cost control tools, schedules, risk matrices, and project execution plans.
  • Participate in industry networking events to stay informed of government programs and industry trends.
  • Coordinate handover activities from development to construction and from construction to operation stages.
  • Collaborate with the major contract team to assess and implement construction strategies specific to projects.
  • Participate in project portfolio acquisition processes and coordinate due diligence efforts related to construction.
  • Ensure effective coordination and information sharing within multi-disciplinary project teams.

Requirements

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of renewable energy project development.
  • Service-oriented with a commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a self-starter and energetic approach.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required for collaboration with stakeholders outside of Québec.
  • Experience in development and/or construction of wind and solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Contract negotiations and storage experience are assets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy is an asset.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite, especially Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel.

  • The position is based in the company's Longueuil (Québec) headquarters.
  • This position is a P4 level.
