About the Role:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting mental health and well-being in our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families, promoting health promotion and maintenance.
  • Lead an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Completion of the CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (if not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years).

  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with an outstanding customer-focused attitude.
  • Knowledge of mental health assessments, treatment methodologies, and intervention strategies.
  • Competent assessment of behavioral risks and interventions in ensuring safety of patient, self, and others.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of clinical situations within a fast-paced environment with varying levels of acuity.
  • Knowledge of and competent de-escalation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in fluent English.
  • Physically and emotionally, carry out the duties of the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven ability to work positively, effectively, and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain a commitment to continued professional development.
