About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, you will provide leadership and guidance to patients, families, and healthcare teams to promote mental health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to patients, families, and healthcare teams to promote mental health and well-being.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and develop treatment plans to address patient needs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote mental health and well-being.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in fluent English.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work positively, effectively, and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RN - Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Knowledge of mental health assessments, treatment methodologies, and intervention strategies.
  • Competent assessment of behavioral risks and interventions in ensuring safety of patient, self, and others.
