Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Railway Operations Supervisor to join our team at the Locomotive Shop - Willowbrook facility. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising all aspects of rail vehicle maintenance, ensuring compliance with customer contractual requirements and promoting a culture of safety, customer service, and equal opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and Coordinate Maintenance Operations
- Oversee the maintenance function in the Locomotive Shop, ensuring that all rail equipment service is completed on time and within schedule.
- Coordinate with the management team, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance
- Conduct job and safety briefings, ensuring that all employees are aware of safety protocols and procedures.
- Investigate and correct safety incidents and hazards, documenting all findings and actions taken.
- Manage Resources and Budget
- Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that all maintenance work is completed within budget and on schedule.
- Participate in the preparation of the financial budget, ensuring that the department works within budget parameters.
- Communicate and Collaborate
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, and customers, providing updates on maintenance operations and addressing any concerns or issues.
- Collaborate with the management team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance operations and customer satisfaction.
- Lead and Develop Team Members
- Coach and develop team members, providing guidance and support to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
- Act as a supervisory point of contact for the investigation of customer issues relating to equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- Experience and Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience supervising in a rail maintenance environment and/or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex technical issues.
- Impeccable ethics and integrity.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance, work order, parts management, and scheduling techniques.
- Education and Training
- Diploma or degree in a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an unionized environment.
- Familiarity with other industries such as Aerospace.
- Experience working in the rail industry with a comprehensive knowledge of rail equipment.
