Position Overview:
The Avionics Integration Engineer will report directly to the VP of Engineering and will play a crucial role within the Engineering team. This position is focused on proposing and executing avionics technical solutions that meet both customer and company needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer comprehensive support for all avionics inquiries from customers and the organization, including the recommendation of technical solutions, proposal generation, and collaboration with Customer Support and Production on pricing.
- Develop and evaluate certification documentation, which encompasses technical schematics, installation guides, Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness, flight operation manuals, testing protocols, test documentation, technical assessments, substantiation reports, and certification strategies.
- Oversee engineering projects by leveraging both internal and external resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Provide expert technical assistance to clients, installers, and the Customer Support team to facilitate the installation and certification of aeronautical products.
- Stay informed about the latest avionics technical solutions, driven by customer feedback and emerging trends in avionics technology.
- Participate in industry trade shows, workshops, and training sessions as directed to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
- Conduct independent online research and engage with vendors to enhance understanding of avionics products.
- Mentor junior team members to foster professional growth.
- Establish and uphold compliance with internal policies, procedures, and standards to promote continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and management of a TCCA DAO.
- A Bachelor's degree, Diploma, or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace, Electrical, Avionics, etc.).
- Eligibility for certification under APEGA or ASET.
- At least 5 years of experience in aviation/aerospace engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation electrical/avionics integration design and substantiation.
- Familiarity with aircraft certification processes and TCCA CAR 521, 527, 529, and their equivalents.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, meet stringent deadlines, and effectively manage shifting priorities.
- A positive demeanor and a strong work ethic.
- High cultural awareness, respect, and sensitivity.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to adhering to regulatory/professional standards and company policies.
- Experience with Part 27 or 29 Helicopter completions and/or STC.
- Familiarity with general aviation aircraft completions and/or STC.
- Background in avionics integration proposals.
- Experience in engineering project management.
- Hands-on experience as an installer of avionics systems in addition to engineering expertise.
- Eligibility for delegation under AWM 50.
- Knowledge of TCCA CAR 573 and its equivalents.
- Understanding of FAA 8110‐3 and 337 Approvals procedures.
