Position Overview

The Island Crisis Care Society is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Support Worker within our Assisted Living Programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute positively to the lives of vulnerable adults in our community.

Key Information

Hours: Flexible and varies based on program needs.

Locations: Services provided in designated areas.

Classification: Community Support Worker and Residential Sleep Worker.

Wage: Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.

Reporting Structure: Directly reports to the Assisted Living Programs Manager.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate a safe and supportive environment for program participants, ensuring their emotional and physical well-being.
  2. Engage in personalized support planning, contributing to the assessment and implementation of individual care plans.
  3. Assist clients with daily living skills, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal finance management.
  4. Provide one-on-one support, fostering trust and meaningful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  5. Respond to emergencies and unusual situations during overnight hours, ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
  6. Document client interactions and progress, maintaining accurate records as required.
  7. Collaborate with team members and external agencies to identify and connect clients with necessary community resources.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in supportive housing and care practices.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma in a relevant human or social service field.

Certifications: Valid First Aid and CPR, Naloxone, Food Safe, WHMIS, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention certifications are required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a supportive housing or healthcare setting is preferred.
