Job Overview

As a Facilities Maintenance Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support the upkeep and repair of the property, ensuring it remains in excellent condition. You will collaborate with the Chief Engineer and their team on various projects aimed at maintaining the hotel's aesthetic appeal. Your role will also involve engaging with guests and colleagues to foster a welcoming and secure atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintenance Support -- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to painting, grouting, installing fixtures, rearranging furniture, and performing basic repairs on equipment.
  2. Emergency Response -- Be prepared to act quickly and effectively in response to any emergencies that may occur during your shift.
  3. Collaborative Team Member -- Provide assistance to other departments as required.
  4. Safety Advocate -- Adhere to established safety and security protocols while proactively identifying potential issues.

Qualifications

This position requires minimal practical experience; however, completion of trade school or relevant coursework is advantageous, as is prior experience in customer service or hospitality settings. Essential skills include:

  • Proficiency in using various tools and equipment relevant to maintenance tasks.
  • Effective communication skills with a good command of English.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds consistently.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk significant distances, and perform bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching movements.
  • Capacity to work in varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Near vision to accurately observe details at close range.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and respond swiftly in urgent situations.
