In this position, you will oversee the troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of the CIVA compounding Facility.

Key Responsibilities

Routine Maintenance, Calibration & Repair

Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs with external vendors. Responsibilities include:

  • HVAC systems
  • Utility and generator systems
  • Production support equipment
  • Temperature-controlled devices (incubators, freezers, refrigerators)
  • Compounding machinery (scales, inspection stations, torque tools, repeater pumps)
  • Building and facilities

Review and compile documentation of repair and maintenance activities in compliance with good documentation practices. Examples include:

  • Calibration records
  • Contractor service reports
  • Logbooks
  • Critical work orders

Facility Support

Ensure all facility-related functions are maintained to guarantee the facility is operational and effective. Duties include:

  • Addressing and resolving building and facility-related issues and requests
  • Sourcing and procuring items and services related to facility maintenance and repair
  • Managing routine building maintenance and pest control

Reliability Engineering

Support reliability engineering initiatives for critical equipment and services. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a master asset list
  • Managing critical spare parts inventory
  • Investigating equipment and facility failures and implementing preventive measures

EHS Compliance

Ensure a safe and compliant facility. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the facility in accordance with local and Baxter EHS policies
  • Ensuring all contracted work is appropriately risk assessed and that contractors possess the necessary qualifications
  • Providing solutions to minimize or eliminate plant hazards

Plant Support

Offer troubleshooting assistance for facility and building services. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing out-of-hours support for critical facility issues
  • Assisting the plant engineer with troubleshooting and repairs as needed
  • Leading the plant engineering function in the absence of the plant engineer
  • Offering technical support for project work and continuous improvement initiatives as required
  • Providing additional plant and building-related support as directed

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical/Controls/Mechanical or equivalent trade/engineering qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a plant environment as a technician
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • Proficient in documentation practices and managing service logs, documenting maintenance and repair activities
  • This position is hands-on; therefore, the successful candidate will be skilled in troubleshooting and repairing equipment
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and computer skills
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends or outside regular hours to meet plant demands
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical/Controls trade license
  • Experience managing various trades within a plant or facility
  • Contractor management experience
  • PLC programming or automation controls experience
