Job Title: Senior Manager, Social Emergencies
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Social Emergencies to join our team at the Canadian Red Cross. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of social emergency services at the national and geographic levels.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for social emergency response, working closely with the VP RRR and national teams.
- Lead internal stakeholder communication and engagement in program design, development, and evaluation.
- Facilitate the adaptation and implementation of resources and activities in alignment with the social emergency strategy and framework.
- Coordinate the development of a program and response framework for crisis response to social emergencies in Indigenous communities.
- Monitor the CRC's approach to crisis and social emergency response to ensure alignment with Indigenous priorities and cultural sensitivity.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of supportive standards, tools, processes, and workflows in Indigenous response.
- Identify and recommend adjustments to service standards, methods, and processes to improve response to current and future needs.
- Communicate and influence work methods, processes, and change amongst team and stakeholders.
- Participate in workforce planning and resolve conflict, providing coaching and feedback to geographies.
- Manage program planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with national strategies and goals.
- Monitor and evaluate program impact and effectiveness, using findings for program improvement and learning.
- Prepare program reports, funding proposals, and other program-related materials.
- Provide people management, including career development plans for assigned employees.
Requirements:
- University degree in a relevant discipline (business administration, management) from a recognized academic institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5-6 years working in program management, administration management, community development, psychology, or similar.
- Experience working on programs with Indigenous Peoples, with a focus on resilience building related to response efforts in support of trauma, crises, and emergencies.
- Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
- Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to problem solve complex issues, communicate, negotiate, and influence internal and external clients.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English is essential; ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered a strong asset.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily working in an office or project-based environment with the possibility of a partially virtual/hybrid working arrangement.
- Regular exposure to computer screens and keyboards while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work to meet project deadlines, support meetings/events, or to meet an operational need.
- May require occasional travel to attend meetings/conferences and/or support operational needs and/or an emergency response.
- May be deployed for 6 – 10 days into a remote community.
