Position Overview:
Department Overview:
The TD Model Validation (MV) team is tasked with the independent assessment and endorsement of analytical models utilized for risk management, pricing strategies, hedging practices, and capital evaluation across a diverse portfolio of financial instruments. This role also encompasses the validation of models that support decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct validation of Treasury Models, including comprehensive integration models utilized for Treasury & Balance Sheet Management (TBSM), focusing on Interest Rate Risk for Banking Book (IRRBB), Liquidity Risk Management, interest rate hedging, and hedging accounting.
- Establish and implement validation methodologies and standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with business partners to manage internal data effectively, ensuring data integrity for model validation and development, as well as compliance with data governance regulations.
- Evaluate the conceptual robustness of model methodologies, including underlying assumptions.
- Utilize a range of technical and statistical tests and modeling techniques to verify implementation accuracy and assess model specifications and performance.
- Review and implement external models for benchmarking internal model performance, participating in model selection and due diligence activities.
- Prepare comprehensive model validation reports that summarize validation analyses and conclusions, supporting regulatory submissions and addressing potential audit inquiries. Reports will include assessments of model methodologies, input quality, assumption validity, model performance testing results, and governance/control processes.
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and developments, sharing insights with business partners and senior management.
Collaboration:
This role requires effective collaboration with various internal teams, including Treasury & Balance Sheet Management Group (TBSM), Treasury and Analytics Group (TAG), Enterprise Non-Trading Market Risk (ENTMR), Enterprise Liquidity Risk (ELR), US Market Risk (USMR), and Internal Audit.
Qualifications:
- Strong quantitative skills, supported by an advanced degree in fields such as Financial Economics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Finance.
- Proficient technical knowledge and experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, and SAS; familiarity with JSON is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of Financial Statements and Corporate Finance principles.
- Experience in model development or validation, with advanced knowledge of testing techniques for large-scale aggregation models; familiarity with regulatory requirements related to liquidity risk management and IRRBB is beneficial.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and multitasking capabilities, requiring minimal supervision.
