Electrical Product Safety Inspector

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Product Safety Inspector to join our team at QAI Laboratories. As an Electrical Product Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for performing inspections to CSA and NFPA Standards, maintaining a high level of technical competence, and managing day-to-day activities with respect to scheduling and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections to CSA and NFPA Standards as required by product division.
  • Maintain a high level of technical competence in the field of inspection & testing.
  • Manage day-to-day activities with respect to scheduling and reporting.
  • Schedule and coordinate directly with clients.
  • Ability to explain technical requirements and findings to the clients.
Requirements:
  • Minimum technical diploma in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the evaluation and testing of electrical products and be familiar with both the CEC Part 1 and Part 2 and NEC requirements.
  • External training or certification, such as courses in the CEC and NEC, UL 508, NFPA 791, CSA SPE1000, CSA SPE3000, and other electrical courses such as grounding/bonding, wiring, power supplies and electrical safety.
  • Familiar with standard Microsoft Office software and have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Safe working practice with tools associated with electrical lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working at an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory.
  • Experience working in the testing, inspection and certification industry.
  • Knowledge of common CSA, UL, IEC, etc. test methods relating to electrical products.
