WORK SCHEDULE: 10-Hour shifts, including Evenings, Overnights, Weekends, and Holidays
HOURS OF OPERATION: Varying shifts: 4 pm - 2 am, 8 am - 6 pm, 10 pm - 8 am. Overtime may be necessary.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Evening and Night Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering crisis management, evaluation, child safeguarding, and emergency services during after-hours.
- Evaluating service requests with a focus on risk assessment, functionality, and service requirements.
- Delivering immediate crisis support and conducting investigations related to child protection.
- Safeguarding at-risk children and ensuring their placement in suitable environments.
- Overseeing and providing care for children awaiting placement.
- Connecting families with professional and community resources and providing necessary information.
- Completing all mandated documentation accurately.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding the effects of colonization and the historical context of residential schools and the 60's scoop, with a strong commitment to de-colonization efforts and the ability to challenge stereotypes associated with Indigenous Peoples.
- A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Experience in family services and child protection is advantageous.
- Proficiency with the CFS Intake Module (IM) is mandatory.
- Fluency in French and/or an Indigenous language is beneficial.
- Knowledge of issues related to substance abuse, domestic violence, child maltreatment, and community resources is essential.
- Proven skills in crisis intervention, abuse investigations, and assessing high-risk scenarios requiring prompt action.
- Awareness and understanding of multicultural dynamics, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures.
- Strong organizational, computer, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to perform well under pressure and collaborate within a team.
- The core competencies for this role include communication, cultural awareness, client focus, decision-making, teamwork, organizational skills, and resilience under stress.
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance are prerequisites for this position. A satisfactory criminal records check, prior contact check, and a review of the Child Abuse Registry are mandatory for all employment opportunities within the organization.
