About the Role:

The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of our Nursery and all related facilities, greenhouses, equipment, site buildings, and vehicles. This is a full-time position at PRT Dryden in Dryden, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety regulations in compliance with WSIB
  • Ensure all equipment, facilities, and vehicles are kept in safe, reliable working condition while maintaining a clean, orderly work area
  • Maintain a site-wide preventative maintenance program
  • Perform time-sensitive emergency repairs to irrigation and nursery equipment when required
  • Keep neat and accurate records
  • Troubleshoot and repair systems including, but not limited to, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for outsourced projects
  • Provide input to management and gather information for the completion of maintenance and capital improvement proposals and projects
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and order parts
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
  • Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement

About the Team:

The Maintenance Specialist reports to the Nursery Manager. PRT Dryden is situated in the beautiful northwestern region of Ontario on the shores of Wabigoon Lake. Dryden is a vibrant community surrounded by freshwater lakes and the Boreal Forest.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum of a 3-year experience in a maintenance role including carpentry and basic welding
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of sound judgment and reasoning skills
  • Great organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
