The Financial Project Controller will collaborate closely with the finance and operations divisions, reporting directly to the Controller. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial accuracy of the company's projects. Responsibilities encompass daily accounting management, cost analysis, audit involvement, and overseeing staff through mentoring and training.
Project Financial Management
- Conduct monthly cost reforecasting and profitability assessments, alongside other necessary analyses and reports.
- Manage monthly revenue recognition for projects based on percentage completion, time and materials, and straight-line methods.
- Deliver essential information and reports to project management and operations as needed.
- Engage in strategic planning, project budget evaluations, and risk assessments with management.
- Possess a thorough understanding of contract and purchase order requirements for billing purposes.
- Guarantee the precision of invoices and progress claims, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to clients.
- Assist in the invoicing process for complex projects.
- Oversee the reconciliation of Work in Progress (WIP).
- Support payment collection efforts as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to contract stipulations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Evaluate historical project performance to forecast future outcomes and advise the organization on project strategies.
- Develop project models based on analyses to facilitate organizational decision-making.
- Create project plans and reports for leadership review.
- Design automated reporting and forecasting tools to enhance data utilization.
- Act as a super user of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), documenting and clarifying key assumptions and identifying areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audit processes, providing necessary information and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- A degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a focus on Accounting is preferred.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is advantageous.
- Approximately three years of CPA experience with knowledge of relevant project accounting.
- Experience in a multi-currency environment is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Litmos training, if applicable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Expertise in Project Accounting.
- Skills in budget planning and analysis.
- Application of IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 15 for Revenue Recognition.
- Advanced data analysis capabilities.
