About the Role

The Surgenor Automotive Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bilingual General Manager to lead one of their dealerships in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the profitable and successful operation of the dealership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management:
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff to ensure overall successful operation and maintain manufacturer standards.
    • Train and mentor staff to uphold professionalism on the sales and service floors.
    • Conduct weekly meetings with sales staff and managers to review market share, advertising, inventory, F&I, and CSI.
    • Ensure completion of staff reviews and update job descriptions and respective processes.
    • Hire staff efficiently, thoroughly, and effectively.
  • Finance:
    • Develop an annual forecast prior to the end of the fiscal year and review monthly comparing actual to previous year results.
    • Review financial statements monthly in coordination with the Controller.
  • Dealership Management:
    • Focus on client and employee satisfaction for all operating decisions.
    • Review vehicle inventory monthly and manage it appropriately to meet forecasted demand.
    • Ensure all service and sales processes are completed effectively and efficiently.
    • Act as a key contributor to the advertising strategy, including budget determination, ad focus, and media choice.
    • Communicate between departments to ensure all information shared with customers is correct and consistent.
    • Review used inventory weekly to ensure fair values and a suitable mix.
    • Provide a report of all new and used sales to F&I and all managers.
    • Review leads weekly and share with Sales Managers.
    • Ensure good health and safety of all activities and areas.

Requirements

  • Management Experience: Industry experience or related (automotive, service, transportation, hospitality, etc.)
  • Language Skills: Bilingual French and English
  • Previous Experience: Previous GSM or GM Automotive experience
  • Skills: Ability to balance various priorities, be the point of contact for the team and departments, communicative, engaging, resourceful, hold a strong sales acumen, and fit with the required responsibilities
