We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Leader Development Specialist to join our team at IWK Health. As a key member of our Children's Medical Ambulatory Care Services, you will play a vital role in planning, developing, and implementing educational activities to foster the development of competencies in interdisciplinary staff.
As a Clinical Leader Development Specialist, you will be accountable to the Children's Medical Ambulatory Care Services Managers and will be responsible for providing clinical practice support to all healthcare team members and patients. You will also function as a change agent, thinking reflectively, assessing alternatives, and supporting change.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing orientation to new staff members and preceptors, including roles and responsibilities
- Acting as a resource to preceptors for ongoing preceptor development
- Coordinating learner placements for nursing practice
- Acting as a clinical resource related to patient care, continuing education, development, and/or review policies, objectives, and guidelines
- Planning educational programs to meet identified learning needs, in collaboration with the Professional Development Consultant
- Acting as a liaison among healthcare team members in identifying trends in patient care
- Acting as a liaison with other IWK CLDs/Rehab Coordinators to initiate and facilitate Program and centre-wide initiatives, including accreditation
- Using knowledge of theories of human communication and interpersonal relationships to facilitate communication among staff
- Providing leadership in the delivery of evidence-based care and facilitating the integration of research into meeting established patient care standards/guidelines/protocols
- Seizing informal and formal learning opportunities to educate colleagues
- Supporting care area-based strategic plans and initiatives
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, registered with CRNNS, and at least five years of clinical experience in Pediatric Nursing Care. A Master's Degree is considered an asset, as is experience as a Clinical Leader Development Specialist. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
