About the Role:
The Pharmacy Assistant will be responsible for supporting the pharmacy team in the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all ward stock functions, including transporting pharmacy items between pharmacy, patient care areas, and other departments.
- Package and label pharmaceuticals according to established procedures.
- Check and fill ward stock, order stock, and receive pharmacy inventory and supplies according to established quotas and procedures.
- Monitor pharmacy inventory and supplies for outdated products.
- Charge and credit medications per established procedure.
- Print and distribute reports from the pharmacy computer system.
- Complete records and filing associated with all duties.
- Participate in hospital and/or departmental quality assurance/improvement activities to ensure standards are maintained.
- Assist in training and orientation of new employees, students, and pharmacy residents.
- Maintain site-specific standards of performance, including achievement of mandatory internal certifications.
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and recent hospital pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy experience.
- Foothills Inpatient Pharmacy experience.
