About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team in British Columbia. As a key member of our Environmental Management team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality environmental services to our clients in Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic effects monitoring programs for multiple sectors in BC and resource development projects throughout Western Canada and the North.
  • Coach and develop project teams responsible for program design, data collection, assessment, and reporting.
  • Provide leadership to project teams over the entire life cycle of a project, ensuring successful technical delivery of complex water quality and environmental effects monitoring projects.
  • Oversee quality assurance/quality control and ensure effective data collection and reporting.
  • Communicate scientific work to non-scientific audiences and support clients in regulatory and engagement efforts with Indigenous Groups, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Prepare technical reports for submission to provincial and federal regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to complete deliverables and possess strong project management, coordination, and planning skills to meet client timelines and budget.
Requirements
  • University education in environmental science, toxicology, or biological sciences, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred, but a Bachelor's degree with significant work experience is considered equivalent to a graduate degree.
  • Professional Registration as a Registered Professional Biologist (College of Applied Biology of British Columbia) or eligible for professional registration.
  • 12 to 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to provide leadership to teams of scientists over the entire project life cycles and point to a track-record of success in the technical delivery of water quality and environmental effects monitoring projects.
  • Positive and enthusiastic can-do attitude, willingness to share knowledge, and lead technical teams and mentor staff.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to think outside the box.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Knowledge of BC and CCME water quality guidelines, and the ability to apply that knowledge to water quality and sediment assessments.
  • Good understanding of the Environmental Assessment process in BC and experience in preparing regulatory submissions and presenting stakeholder information in open forums.
  • Valid driver's license and a proven commitment to health and safety.
