About the Role

Bromwich & Smith Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Insolvency Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients in their financial recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert financial counselling to clients, assessing their needs and providing tools and knowledge to aid in their rehabilitation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, building trust and confidence through phone and video counselling sessions.
  • Evaluate clients' financial situations, identifying areas of difficulty and providing guidance on money management, spending, and shopping habits.
  • Conduct regular counselling sessions, including first and second meetings, to counsel clients on setting financial goals, obtaining and using credit, and rebuilding credit.
  • Assist clients through challenging life events, referring them to outside agencies or resources as needed.
  • Manage a high-volume workload, conducting at least 8 counselling sessions per day and ensuring timely e-filing of required documentation.
Requirements
  • High School or Post Graduate diploma
  • Be recognized as a qualified BIA Insolvency Counsellor
  • Two to three years of experience as an Insolvency Counsellor
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and strong aptitude for learning new computer programs
  • Working knowledge and experience with Insolvency software and procedures
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Delivers quality and timely counselling services daily
  • Schedules required tasks in an operationally structured environment
  • Works within a team setting, independently and collaboratively
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and recommend solutions within established rules and procedures
  • Applies technical-specialist knowledge and experience on a number of aspects
  • Uses specific guidelines to make decisions and seeks Estate Manager's input when dealing with ambiguity or complex issues
  • Strong detail and accuracy orientation
  • Fulfills the BIA requirement for continued education
