As Canada's sole discrete plate manufacturer, we are recognized as one of the most cost-effective producers of hot-rolled sheet steel in North America, thanks to our advanced Direct Strip Production Complex. Our steel products cater to various industries, including construction, mining, manufacturing, automotive, shipbuilding, and energy, encompassing renewable energy and military applications.
The steel industry is undergoing significant transformation, and we are at the forefront of this evolution, transitioning towards electric arc steelmaking technology. This shift positions Algoma as a leading provider of green steel in North America, enabling us to offer low-carbon steel products, reduce our environmental impact, and contribute to a sustainable future.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent, along with Ironworker (420A) or (420B) or Metal Fabricator (Fitter) (437A) certification and relevant experience.
- Possession of a 4-position CWB Welding ticket is required.
- A valid Gas ticket is considered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trade, along with a strong understanding of safety practices associated with the profession.
- Candidates must be prepared to work on a rotating shift schedule.
