The Cardiology Technologist I is a key member of the healthcare team at Alberta Health Services, responsible for performing various cardiac tests and analyzing data to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) and other cardiac tests to investigate cardiac abnormalities and level of function.
- Apply, process, and review data associated with holter and event monitors, as well as blood pressure monitors.
- Work collaboratively with practitioners to facilitate stress testing and provide expertise in equipment setup, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Precept, orient new staff and students, and provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and/or students.
- Serve as a clinical resource, providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.
- Completion of a certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology.
- Active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologists (ASRCT) and the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Cardiology Technology (CSCT).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiology Technologist in an acute care setting within the past 3 years.
- Experience within the last 2 years related to the application, processing, and review of holter and event monitors.
- Familiarity with IT systems such as MUSE / GEMS, Cardio Day, Sentinel, and Connect Care.
