Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Literacy Resource Instructor to join our ESL LINC Program team at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students to develop their digital literacy skills and achieve their language learning goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in using technology for in-person and online classes
  • Prepare and deliver tutorials to individual students and groups based on CLB guidelines
  • Ensure level-appropriate instruction based on ESL/LINC guidelines
  • Collaborate with instructors to assess student needs
  • Provide learner-centered language instruction using resources and activities sensitive to cultural differences and inclusivity
  • Assess learners' needs, development, and skill levels in accordance with CLB guidelines using CLB-based assessment tools
  • Implement PBLA approach to teaching and assessment
  • Use online platforms for posting asynchronous learning materials in a face-to-face or remote situation
  • Use professionally acceptable and effective classroom management strategies following LINC/ESL procedures
  • Share community support contact information with students
Requirements
  • Current TESL Ontario Accredited Certification - OCELT
  • Recent Canadian Language Benchmarks training or willingness to complete
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English
  • Experience teaching in an ESL setting
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Completed PBLA training and/or experience working with PBLA
  • Knowledge of Avenue, Google Classroom, and/or other platforms for learning
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with a minimum of 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in their teaching practices.
