The Social Worker plays a vital role in delivering essential services within the educational environment, specifically in designated Schools Plus institutions. This collaborative model emphasizes a comprehensive and student-centered approach, where various partners unite to support the child and their family, with the school serving as the focal point for these services.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker will:
- Engage in the planning, development, and evaluation of mental health services tailored for children and adolescents.
- Focus on early identification and intervention strategies for mental health challenges within the school demographic.
- Act as a crucial liaison among clients, educational institutions, and mental health services.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's degree in Social Work.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
- A minimum of two years of experience in providing mental health services to children and adolescents.
- Expertise in utilizing diagnostic tools to assess and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders.
- Experience in crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment.
- Strong ability to implement family-based interventions for complex cases.
- Excellent coordination skills to establish effective connections with health, education, and community agencies.
This is a permanent part-time position, requiring 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly wage for this position is $49.04. Successful candidates may also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
