Electrical Systems Commissioning Specialist

Position Overview
:As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer/Technologist, you will be integral to the effective deployment of our systems by: Collaborating with various Engineering teams to facilitate the electrical and controls commissioning of our systems. Creating and executing streamlined and standardized processes for both factory and on-site commissioning. Offering design insights and feedback. Participating in comprehensive electrical commissioning planning. Evaluating and commissioning cutting-edge clean technology solutions. On average, your responsibilities will involve 30% of your time at customer locations and 70% at our main office. Field assignments typically require 2-3 weeks on-site, followed by a similar duration at the office. More distant locations may necessitate extended periods on-site.
At Saltworks, we prioritize a culture of learning. Consequently, you will acquire skills in industrial system testing and commissioning while receiving training and mentorship from project managers and senior leaders, ultimately becoming a subject matter expert.
Ideal Candidate Profile: Willingness to travel: A valid passport is required, and you must be able to travel to international customer sites. A diploma or degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering Technology or a related field, along with 2 - 4 years of relevant post-graduation experience as an Electrical Engineer/Technologist. Understanding of industrial safety standards concerning electrically and mechanically energized systems. Hands-on experience in electrical installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, including power and control panel setup, testing, and diagnostics. Familiarity with common industrial electrical hardware components and the ability to navigate major manufacturers' catalogs for parts such as enclosures, disconnects, circuit breakers, etc. Basic understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and its application. Capability to interpret electrical documents and drawings, including panel layout schematics, single line/wiring diagrams, cable pull sheets, and communication network architecture. Bonus: Familiarity with industrial Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) systems. This role also requires the following universal skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to organize, prioritize, and uphold a high standard of work. Quick adaptability to new skills in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in hands-on tooling, mechanical aptitude, and troubleshooting. Exceptional critical thinking abilities and adeptness in risk management. A positive attitude, proactive approach, and readiness to engage in hands-on tasks.
