Your Opportunity:

The Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) provides a voluntary medical detoxification program designed to foster a secure and therapeutic atmosphere for individuals undergoing withdrawal from substances such as alcohol and drugs. We are seeking compassionate and skilled nursing professionals to become integral members of our multidisciplinary team. This role involves conducting medical evaluations for individuals seeking our services, managing admissions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring vital signs and withdrawal symptoms, and modifying treatment plans as clinically necessary. You will engage in the daily medical, physical, and educational needs of our clients, employing a client-centered, trauma-informed, and concurrent capable approach to ensure comprehensive emotional and psychological support is available. Flexibility and responsiveness to a dynamic environment are essential in this position. Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to effectively interact with a diverse clientele, their families, healthcare professionals, and the community.

Description:

As a Practical Nurse, you will collaborate within an interprofessional healthcare team, utilizing nursing processes alongside critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Your practice will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated competencies, and the policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services (AHS). You will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality patient and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nursing education program. Active registration or eligibility for a practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta. By applying for this role, successful candidates will be part of this transition. Current employees under the UNA Collective Agreement who accept an employment offer after a specified date will not retain rights under Article 15: Layoff and Recall.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in the Addictions and Mental Health Field is desirable.
