POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Control Inspector plays a crucial role in assessing materials and manufactured components to ensure adherence to established work instructions and specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct inspections and monitor quality standards throughout the process, aligning with company quality assurance policies and customer specifications for initial, in-process, receiving, and final inspections.
  • Execute precise mechanical, physical, and visual inspections of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with control plans and specification requirements.
  • Utilize hand precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges, and CMM as necessary to verify part dimensions.
  • Generate detailed dimensional reports from CMM data and conventional measuring tools.
  • Document and communicate inspection outcomes and completed purchase orders, ensuring proper filing, scanning, and archiving.
  • Perform product identification and traceability tasks as required.
  • Authorize MCS for completed operations inspected and collaborate with customers and BWXT Witness for MCS sign-off when necessary.
  • Interpret customer drawings, including geometric tolerances and technical information packages.
  • Evaluate part compliance, initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), and manage the NCR process for resolution and timely closure.
  • Safely handle components, utilizing lifting devices such as overhead cranes and jib cranes as applicable.
  • Assist with Quality Surveillance of sub-suppliers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Technical Diploma in Quality or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in quality control and/or receiving environments.
  • Ability to interpret complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications to determine appropriate dimensional inspections for compliance.
  • Familiarity with ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0, and N299 quality programs is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using various measuring tools and equipment, including verniers, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, and thread gauges.
  • Knowledge of calibration controls for measuring and testing equipment.
  • Understanding of specific NDE techniques such as liquid penetration, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing is beneficial.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete tasks promptly while upholding high industry standards.
  • Capable of resolving routine technical issues using systematic approaches.

The hourly wage for this role in Ontario is projected to range between $41,812 and $​​​​​​​59,732. The offered rate is influenced by market location and may vary based on individual factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also encompass various elements, including a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
