Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room department at Mills Memorial Hospital. As a Perioperative Nursing Specialist, you will be responsible for providing and coordinating nursing care to assigned patients, consistent with current standards of nursing practice and the clinical specialty of operating room nursing and post-anaesthetic care nursing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate nursing care to assigned patients, including scheduled on-call responsibilities for emergency surgery and PACU assignment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient operating room environment, adhering to established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices in perioperative nursing.
Education and Training

We are offering a training opportunity for a Registered Nurse to complete the American Operating Room Nurse's (AORN) Periop-101 course, a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills.

Requirements
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
