Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Power's Trenton Generating Station. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support to our Maintenance and Operations departments, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power generation facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide technical expertise to support multi-discipline engineering functions, including project scoping, cost control, and project management.
- Assist in the execution of the plant's capital program, including shutdown planning and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Develop and implement individual capital project submissions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with other plant engineers and asset management specialists to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Supervise contract crews and external consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Support the maintenance department by reviewing predictive and preventive maintenance programs and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Assist the operations department in process and equipment troubleshooting, and develop initiatives to improve reliability.
- Provide engineering assistance in support of safety improvements, process improvements, equipment modifications, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Hold a Professional Engineer designation and be a full member or eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia, with 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Candidates with an Electrical Engineering Technologists Diploma and 7 to 10 years of experience will also be considered.
- Previous supervisory and/or project management experience is an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, exemplary interpersonal skills, and the ability to function effectively in a team environment are essential.
- Self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills, with established skills in managing multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
- Availability for after-hours consultation and emergency plant work is required.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
