About the Role

Covanta is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure.
  • Establish and maintain effective maintenance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Perform emergency repairs and respond to equipment failures in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and systems to ensure they are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and optimize equipment performance.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, sit, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a mechanical role with knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA rules and regulations, as well as proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate safety-conscious behaviors and knowledge of 5S principles.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools, power tools, hand trucks, drill presses, grinders, conveyors, and other heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, noise levels, and outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with the aid of a respirator when necessary.
  • Must be able to read precision instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, digital multi-meters, and other electronic diagnostic tools.
