Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Community Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in connecting marginalized individuals with essential resources and services. Your responsibilities will encompass client intake, case management, program coordination, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive client intakes, assessing their needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with shelter staff to ensure seamless transitions for clients.
  • Maintain accurate client records using our database system.
  • Connect individuals with appropriate programs and services tailored to their specific requirements.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Develop detailed case histories, documenting progress and challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with external agencies to facilitate referrals and support networks.
  • Coordinate program orientations, providing essential information and guidance to new participants.
  • Foster positive connections with community service providers to enhance collaboration and resource availability.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education/Certifications:

Completion of up to two years of Community College.

Required Certifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Human Sciences/Addictions
  • Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Valid Driver's License

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with marginalized populations.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks.
  • Training in Crisis and Homelessness Prevention.
  • A deep understanding of homelessness issues and the challenges faced by individuals experiencing it.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
