GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Manager serves as a pivotal leader in the absence of the Store Manager and acts as a business owner within the LensCrafters organization. This role is essential in representing LensCrafters as the premier destination for all vision-related needs in the community while achieving key performance metrics.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enhances quality and improvement to meet or exceed all key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Comp Sales, % Sales to Plan; Conversion & Customer Count, Comp Growth; Increased Traffic; Store Operating Profitability; Continuity of Care, Exam Growth & Retention Goals; Net Promoter Score; Current year objectives
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of retail operations and effectively transfers knowledge to achieve superior sales and business outcomes. Analyzes competition and market trends.
  • Assists the Store Manager in evaluating business performance and leverages the strengths of Retail, Lab, and Doctor to drive positive results.
  • Collaborates with the Store Manager to implement business strategies aimed at maximizing sales and profitability while addressing areas for improvement.
  • Partners with the Store Manager to lead a knowledgeable and skilled team.
  • Provides training and mentorship to team members.
  • Delivers timely and constructive feedback.
  • Alerts the Store Manager to any situations requiring development or disciplinary action.
  • Supports recruitment efforts to select high-caliber team members and create a talent pipeline.
  • Adheres to staffing guidelines to ensure optimal store operation.
  • Takes pride in maintaining store appearance and executing visual merchandising directives.
  • Strives to maintain a positive working relationship with healthcare professionals.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures while meeting or exceeding all goals.
  • Proactively identifies potential issues and explores root causes to implement long-term solutions.
  • Performs and comprehends administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Works a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Under a valid state Opticianry license, performs the following duties:
    • Provides expert knowledge on lens options based on patient needs and prescriptions.
    • Adjusts and repairs eyewear.
    • Dispenses eyewear and creates a memorable customer experience.
    • Conducts accurate digital measurements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current and valid state Opticianry license
  • Minimum of 1 year of management or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of retail operations, processes, and policies
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators
  • Proficient command of the English language for all written and verbal communication
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrated high-level selling abilities
  • Proven problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree or equivalent
  • Previous leadership experience in retail or customer service
  • Knowledge of basic optics
  • Familiarity with current store merchandise
  • State licensure (if applicable) and/or ABO Certification in non-licensed states
  • Brand Final Inspector Certification
  • Brand Quality, Fitting & Adjusting Program

​Pay Range: 44,851.90

Employee compensation is determined by various factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. Additionally, a competitive bonus and/or commission plan may be offered, complementing a comprehensive total rewards package.
