Position Overview

The Senior Interior Designer plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects adhere to timelines and budgets while delivering innovative design solutions that meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee project schedules and ensure timely completion of project phases.
  • Select and specify all interior architectural materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and artwork.
  • Develop creative design concepts that are practical, visually appealing, and aligned with client objectives.
  • Conduct space planning and programming efforts, including layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment.
  • Coordinate color schemes and material selections.
  • Integrate sustainable design practices into all projects.
  • Create and present conceptual design ideas through 2D and 3D renderings.
  • Prepare and lead client presentations to communicate design intent.
  • Revise and update documents during schematic design and development phases.
  • Assist in soliciting bids and collaborate with project managers and clients for subcontracting needs.
  • Maintain communication with various stakeholders, including disciplines, vendors, and contractors, to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Adhere to HOK standards across all projects and processes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new design professionals.
  • Promote sustainable work practices within the workplace.
  • Commit to delivering exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
Required Skills
  • Strong creative talent in conceptual design and rendering, with proficiency in both hand and digital sketching.
  • Advanced skills in space planning and a keen interest in programming.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design trends, construction methods, and material applications.
  • Expertise in furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), and architectural/interior finishes.
  • In-depth understanding of building regulations and safety standards.
  • Proficient in design techniques and tools for producing precise technical plans and models.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices, integrated design, and LEED standards.
  • Familiarity with buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines while providing high-quality service.
  • Proficient in essential technical skills, including:
    • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • AutoCAD and Architectural Desktop.
    • Revit (preferred).
    • Graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign.
    • 3D modeling software like Rhino and Grasshopper (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in interior design or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in interior design projects.
  • LEED accreditation is required within the first year of employment.
Additional Information
  • Travel may be necessary for project-related activities.
  • Overtime may be required based on project demands.
  • Job responsibilities may be modified at the discretion of HOK.
