Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the underwriting process.
- Evaluate risks and make decisions to accept, decline, or modify new business submissions, policy endorsements, and renewals.
- Align decision-making with the company's Line of Business and segmentation strategies.
- With guidance, develop strategies to meet profitable growth objectives.
- Underwrite insurable risks across various business sectors: Realty, Restaurants, B+P, Contractors, Automotive, Retail, Warehousing, Wholesaling, and Manufacturing.
- Utilize tools, resources, and reports to assess risks and make informed underwriting decisions.
- Apply underwriting judgment while adhering to corporate policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
- Recognize when to engage Underwriting Technicians or escalate issues to senior Underwriting stakeholders.
- Review claims activity and take necessary actions within the underwriting authority.
- Focus on Customer Experience:
- Communicate with Brokers to gather additional information, convey risk acceptances and terms, and follow up on quotes to achieve target hit ratios. Provide exceptional service in all interactions.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to Commercial Property Insurance.
- Route or escalate Broker inquiries to appropriate contacts within the organization for prompt resolution.
- System Proficiency:
- Manage multiple transactions within the policy case management system, effectively documenting and processing transactions.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of policy administration and quoting systems to address Broker inquiries efficiently.
- Utilize document management knowledge to access the latest materials and tools.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of insurance principles with a focus on risk assessment and a minimum of two years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and solve problems. Excellent listening skills to anticipate and understand customer needs. Capable of handling challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
- Experience in sales is advantageous.
Salary Range: $48,700 - $89,800
