Secondary English and Mathematics Educator

Oxford Learning Centres, Inc. is on the lookout for dedicated part-time teacher-tutors to join our educational team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a learning environment and are committed to fostering academic growth in students.
As a tutor-teacher at Oxford Learning, you will benefit from a structured approach to teaching, as all lesson plans are provided. Comprehensive training in our unique educational methods will be offered to ensure your success in this role.
Position Requirements
All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning are expected to work during after-school hours (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM) and some Saturdays (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM). A commitment through the academic term is preferred, with opportunities to continue during the summer. Reliability and punctuality are essential.
This position requires in-person attendance. Candidates must be able to commute to the designated location. A background check is mandatory.
We encourage applicants who meet the following qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
- Fourth-year university students with substantial tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is advantageous
- Strong understanding of the current Grades 9-12 English, math, and science curriculum, especially in senior math topics such as Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, as well as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Fluency in English is required; native speakers are preferred
Experience:
- Experience in teaching or tutoring math at the Grade 9 to 12 level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong mathematical abilities and the capacity to enhance students' comprehension
- Ability to manage multiple students simultaneously
Responsibilities (Position Details)
In this role, you will engage directly with students as an Interactive Coach, with responsibilities including:
- Instructing up to three students at varying levels
- Implementing both online and in-person teaching methods
- Adhering to the educational philosophies and methodologies of Oxford Learning
- Documenting post-lesson reflections
- Providing daily updates on student progress
- Maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor at all times

Salary Range: $17 - $18 per hour to start
