Brandt is actively looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Value Parts division. The ideal candidate will take on the responsibility of disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, ordering parts, and reassembling heavy machinery components within our Rebuild facility. The components involved include, but are not limited to, axles, final drives, pumps, transmissions, engines, hydraulic motors, hydraulic cylinders, and various planetary drives. This role also encompasses the dismantling of heavy machinery used in construction, forestry, and mining.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the operational condition of heavy equipment components, diagnose issues, and efficiently manage the assembly/disassembly process.
  • Utilize secondary materials and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Employ relevant instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
  • Continuously evaluate service task hazards to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Document maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics using computer applications and information systems.
  • Locate and order necessary parts through parts catalogues and coordinate with parts personnel.
  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Forklift experience and familiarity with heavy-duty parts handling are advantageous.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, service teams, and branch personnel.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills related to diagnostics and calibration.
  • Strong diagnostic abilities to assess mechanical and technical repair needs.
  • Excellent time-management skills for efficient task execution.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Required Experience:

  • Certification as a Journeyperson in the heavy-duty equipment technician trade or an equivalent recognized trade is preferred.
  • Prior mechanical experience in a heavy equipment setting is considered beneficial.
  • Dedication to customer service and service excellence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with customers, service teams, and branch personnel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated computer and technical aptitude for diagnostics and calibration tasks.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify mechanical and technical repair requirements.
  • Effective time-management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
