Position Overview
The Relief 3rd Class Power Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and upkeep of a high-pressure heating facility. This position is integral to the functioning of the hospital's heating systems and involves working on a rotating shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, the Relief 3rd Class Power Engineer is tasked with:
- Operating and maintaining three high-pressure boilers to deliver steam and hot water heating.
- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of associated equipment.
- Monitoring and addressing issues related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Responding to maintenance requests from various departments in a timely and professional manner.
- Performing maintenance duties throughout the facility when not engaged in boiler operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid 3rd Class Interprovincial Power Engineers Certification or a 3rd Class Nova Scotia Power Engineers Grade XII or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a high-pressure steam environment is preferred.
- Certification in refrigeration at the 2nd class level.
- Experience in a computerized plant setting.
- Experience in a healthcare context is advantageous.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $30.44.
