Industrial Mechanic 433A Location:

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this essential role focuses on the upkeep of all machinery and equipment within the facility, encompassing both mechanical and electrical repairs.

This forward-thinking and resourceful individual will ensure the longevity of the machinery, reduce operational interruptions, and uphold the safe and effective functioning of the plant.


Core Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance on all packaging and production machinery, as well as services and utilities.
  • Extend the lifespan of equipment and minimize operational downtime.
  • Repair all production machinery as necessary.
  • Guarantee the safe and effective functioning of the plant.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and plant staff to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with external contractors, ensuring that all work is performed safely and in compliance with manufacturing standards and regulations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose recommendations to enhance maintenance operations and efficiency.
  • Ensure that parts are ordered, organized, and adequately stocked.
  • Engage in additional projects as assigned by management.
  • Participate in required training and courses.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in the food sector, preferably in dairy.
  • Must hold an Ontario and/or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – 433A license required.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Strong skills in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of high-speed filling and packaging lines, as well as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Refrigeration "B" license and boiler experience are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficient in plumbing, welding, and machining.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility regarding shift work and willingness to perform additional duties as required.
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role.
  • Computer proficiency is an asset.
