About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist to join our team at The MEARIE Group. As an Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our Distribution Engineering Supervisor, including providing technical specifications, drawings review, work order estimates, and installation inspection for new developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical specifications to developers, review and correct their plans, and inspect installation to ensure it conforms to approved drawings.
  • Prepare detailed line layouts, work orders, and estimates for line work required for new developments, capital projects, or line relocations.
  • Stake out line betterments or relocations, notify adjacent landowners regarding work, and update distribution system CAD drawings.
  • Provide specifications for ordering transformers for developments and make recommendations to the Supervisor, Distribution Engineering on various aspects of the distribution system to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Liaise with other utilities, such as gas, telephone, cable TV, water, and sewer, to ensure coordination of services.
  • Conduct fault current and fuse coordination studies, assist during outages, and prepare tender and contract documentation.
  • Provide technical help to Engineering Technicians and students, and provide advice to customers regarding electrical services.
Requirements
  • College diploma in electrical engineering.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • An excellent understanding of electrical distribution systems, including their design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of computer software programs, including SpidaCalc, Microsoft Windows, and Office applications.
  • Excellent time management skills and written/oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal tactfully with customers.
  • Ability to operate a class 'G' motor vehicle.
