Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Technical Artist to join our team. As a key member of our art department, you will be responsible for driving the technical art pipeline and tools discussion, collaborating with other technical artists, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the technical art team to develop and maintain high-quality art assets and tools.
  • Drive the pipeline and tools discussion for the technical art team, ensuring seamless integration with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 5+, Nanite & Lumen, and other relevant technologies.
  • Work closely with senior members of various disciplines to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
  • Identify and address content issues early on, and plan ahead for tools and resources needed to support project pipelines.
  • Research and develop new technologies to support project requirements in Unreal Engine.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their growth and development.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve art pipelines and workflows.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in the game industry, specifically supporting art teams on game projects.
  • Expertise with Unreal Engine 5+, Nanite & Lumen, and other relevant technologies.
  • Experience establishing and driving new workflows for content creation.
  • Shipped 2+ titles as a technical artist.
  • Experience mentoring other technical artists.
  • Strong foundation of Python scripting for extending content creation tools and automating tasks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong understanding of aesthetics, function vs. form relationships, and game level design principles.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MAX, Maya, or other 3D software packages.
  • Grasp of performance requirements and constraints of current generation console and PC development.
  • Understanding of PBR materials and material software such as Substance Designer.
  • Excellent understanding of art pipelines and workflow.
