Lead Technical Artist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Technical Artist to join our team at Certain Affinity, Inc. in Multiple Countries. This role will be based out of our Toronto, Ontario Studio or our Austin, Texas Studio, with no international relocation required.

About the Role

As a Lead Technical Artist, you will work closely with a small team of technical artists to support the creation of high-quality content for our various projects. You will be responsible for building tools to make the content creation process more efficient and effective, as well as collaborating with other technical artists to drive the pipeline and tools discussion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the technical art team to develop and maintain art pipelines and tools
  • Drive the pipeline and tools discussion for the technical art team
  • Work closely with senior members in various disciplines, such as environment art, VFX, lighting, UI, and materials
  • Develop and maintain performance tools to accurately determine core causes of performance issues and provide solutions
  • Mentor junior members in the team and provide guidance on art pipelines and workflow
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in the game industry, specifically supporting art teams on game projects
  • Experience establishing and driving new workflows for content creation
  • Shipped 2+ titles as a technical artist
  • Experience mentoring other technical artists
  • Strong foundation of Python scripting for extending content creation tools and automating tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to collaborate with art, design, and engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert-level knowledge of MAX, Maya, or other 3D software packages
  • Solid grasp of performance requirements and constraints of current generation console and PC development
  • Understanding of the construction and application of PBR materials and material software such as Substance Designer
