Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Engineer

About the Role

Brunel is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for supporting the technical direction of our nuclear energy projects and providing technical interfacing to internal and external customers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement control systems and instrumentation for fuel handling systems and other plant equipment.
  • Liaise with design, operations, and maintenance personnel to gather site-specific design information.
  • Conduct walk-downs of equipment in the plant to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable company, technical, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and customer review meetings, providing stakeholder and design input.
  • Test and commission complex equipment and systems.
  • Review selection of components and equipment, including motors, cables, relays, and junction boxes.
  • Adhere to on-time/on-budget criteria associated with project commitments and customer success.
  • Support the development and estimating of engineering proposals.
  • Ensure designs are done for manufacturability and comply with requirements.
  • Support customer relationships and ensure market alignment.
  • May support proposal development and review, including scope review, estimating, and technical presentations to customers.
  • Help identify project risks, analyze solutions, and take decisive action to resolve issues and communicate these to the leadership team.
  • Provide assurance of health and safety associated with the execution of all projects and activities.


Requirements

  • B.A.Sc. in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control/Automation or related discipline Engineering.
  • Holds a current PEO license.
  • Typically requires 3 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, Oil and Gas, Mining, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support leadership on engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles with little support.
  • Exposure to a broad range of interdisciplinary departments, including mechanical, software design, systems engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team.
  • Flexibility to work remotely on short-term customer site assignments.
